On March 2, 1973, Ann Woodward was strangled to death in her bar, Woody’s, after closing. Evidence collected at that scene by the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, and additional evidence collected by a Moab Police Department Detective conducting the investigation in the following days, was recently re-evaluated and sent for DNA testing.
The result of the DNA testing has allowed us to positively identify who killed Ann, and put together details of the event that were previously unknown and never released to the media.
We’d like to invite all media outlets to Moab this Friday to view a presentation of the new investigation, to include the identity of the killer. Moab Police Department Chief Lex Bell, Sheriff Jamison Wiggins with the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Grand County DA Stephen Stocks, family members of Ann and investigators will be present and available for comment or interview after the presentation.
