The City of Moab invites community members of all ages to a morning of fun and celebration at the official grand opening of the new All-Abilities Playground at Swanny City Park. The celebration and ribbon-cutting will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 9 to 11 a.m. Refreshments will be provided.
This upgrade to one of Moab’s favorite parks includes ramped access points and a wide range of modern, interactive slides, swings, a short zipline, and other play structures, installed on a soft rubberized surface for added safety. The new space also features plenty of shaded areas, providing a cooler, more comfortable environment for everyone to enjoy throughout the warmer
months.
“We’re excited to unveil this beautiful new space at Swanny City Park,” said City Parks, Recreation and Trails Director Patrick Trim. “It’s a great place for kids to play and families to enjoy the outdoors together.”
The new playground was funded by over $500,000 in Moab City Recreation, Arts & Parks (RAP) tax revenues and a $250,000 Community Development Block Grant.
"This new All Abilities Playground is a vital addition to the city's recreational amenities for all of our local residents. The old playground had definitely outlived its life,” said Moab Mayor Joette Langianese. “The city is appreciative of the Southeastern Regional Development Agency (SERDA) for their support and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant funding that, combined with Moab Recreation, Arts & Parks tax revenue, made this new playground possible."
